Sky Harbor Airport Automated People Mover

Sky Harbor Airport Automated People Mover

The Sky Harbor Airport Automated People Mover (APM) is a proposed people mover system to be built at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport [cite web|author=City of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport|title=The Automated Train|url=http://phoenix.gov/skyharborairport/about/condev-skyharbortrain.html] . At first, a shuttle bus will run along Sky Harbor Boulevard for the proposed length of the airport rail line. Phase I of construction will link Terminal 4, the East Economy Parking lot, and the 44th Street light rail station. Eventually, the APM will link to all airport terminals and the Rental Car Center. It will run in its new separate own right-of-way, partially using part of former State Route 153, particularly its bridge under the Union Pacific railroad. Estimated cost is just over $1 billion, which is close to the cost of the 20-mile METRO line.
