- Godley East railway station
Godley East was a railway station in Godley area of Hyde,
Tameside ,Greater Manchester , on theManchester-Glossop Line .It was opened under the name Godley (Toll Bar) and later renamed Godley Junction and had four platforms - two on the
Manchester-Glossop Line and two linking theWoodhead Line with Stockport and Warrington. After the closure of the Stockport line, it was renamed simply as Godley.On 7 July 1986, a new station called Godley was opened ¼ mile to the west,cite book |editor=Alan Bevan |others=Railway Development Society |title=A—Z of Rail Reopenings |origyear=1998 |publisher=Warwick Printing Company |location=Warwick |isbn=0-901283-13-4 |pages=p43 ] and the original station was renamed Godley East. The platforms on the Hadfield line are fenced off; however, from the now cycle track which runs along the former line linking to Stockport, the remains of the other platforms are visible.
