- Frank McGuren
Francis William "Frank" McGuren (
15 October 1909 –13 June 1990 ) was anAustralia n politician. Born inGrafton, New South Wales , he was educated at St Augustine's School in Coffs Harbour. He then became a public servant, and was elected to Grafton City Council. In 1961, he became the only Labor member to win the seat of Cowper in theAustralian House of Representatives , defeating the 81-year-old former Prime MinisterEarle Page of the Country Party. Page had been too ill to campaign and died without knowing that he had lost the seat. McGuren held the seat until 1963, when he was defeated by the Country Party's Ian Robinson.
