A variation of Oreo O's called Extreme Creme Taste Oreo O's contained Oreo filling flavored marshmallows.[citation needed].
The cereal was launched in 1998 and discontinued in 2007.[citation needed]
Discontinuation
According to an email from consumer relations, the product was discontinued in 2007. However, it is still available in some countries, such as South Korea. [1] Oreo O's was discontinued after the merger of Post Cereals and Ralcorp Holdings into Post Foods, LLC.
A purported reason the cereal was discontinued has to do with the separation of Kraft, the company that produces and sells Oreo Cookies, from Post, the company that produced Oreo O's cereal, which occurred in 2007-2008. As part of the separation, Kraft sold the rights to the Oreo O's recipe to Post, however Kraft retained ownership of the Oreo trademark, leaving no single company with the recipe for the cereal and the rights to sell a product under the Oreo trademark.[citation needed]
International Availability
While not available for purchase in the United States, Oreo O's are still produced and readily available in South Korea.
