Richard Malanjum is a Federal Court judge in the
Malaysia n court system and the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak. Malanjum was born onOctober 13 ,1952 inTuaran ,Sabah .cite web|publisher=Malaysian Judiciary|title=Judiciary Members|url=http://www.kehakiman.gov.my/html/judiciary_members.shtml|accessdate=2008-05-15]Malanjum earlier worked as a clerk with the Education Department, Agriculture Department, Radio and Television Department and as a Welfare Officer with the State Welfare Department. Later he proceeded to study law as an external student of the University of London at the MARA Institute of Technology in
Shah Alam , Malaysia.In August 1981, he ventured into private legal practice in
Kota Kinabalu . In1992 , he was appointed as a Judicial Commissioner.Malanjum became the first bumiputra/native of Sabah to be appointed as High Court Judge, and the first Sabahan to be appointed as Court of Appeal Judge and, subsequently Federal Court Judge, the apex court of the country. On
July 26 ,2006 , he was appointed as the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak.Malanjum has three children, Jessica, Edgar and Carl.
