Peyman Nasehpoor

Peyman Nasehpoor

.

Peyman comes from a long line of musicians: his father is the famous vocalist Nasrollah Nasehpoor, and his grandfather was garmon-player Agha Shakour.

He learned Persian drumming at the early age of nine and broadened his drumming knowledge by working on Azeri dayereh (ghaval), Kurdish daf and Indian tabla.

Peyman holds a Master of Science in Mathematics and is an avid student of philosophy. In 1997, he placed 12th in the Iranian State Student Scientific Olympiad in the mathematics category.

With his father and brothers Pooyan and Parham, Peyman formed the "Nassehpoor Ensemble" in 1996.

In June 2005, Peyman wrote an open letter to Iranian presidential candidate Mostafa Moeen, thanking him for remarks on the lack of official recognition of Iranian folk music, and urging greater support for the teaching of traditional Iranian music, especially at the university level.

In September 2007, he toured as a member of "world family of percussion pack" led by Peter Giger in Germany.
