imdb_id ="Last Choir Standing" was a 2008
talent show -themedtelevision series produced by theBBC in theUnited Kingdom . Broadcast onBBC One in July and August 2008, the series saw amateur choirs competing each week to be the 'last choir standing'.The series was presented by
Myleene Klass andNick Knowles , with judgesRussell Watson ,Sharon D. Clarke andSuzi Digby . In the final, following a public telephone vote, the winners were announced as Welsh male voice choir Only Men Aloud!.Format
The programme, initially to be called "Choir Wars", looked to find 'the nation's favourite choir'. Presented by
Myleene Klass andNick Knowles , the programme aired on Saturday nights, with some of the results shows shown on Sundays, in the same timeslot as other BBC entertainment programs such as "Strictly Come Dancing " and "I'd Do Anything".Applications on tape were accepted from amateur choirs of 10-50 people, aged 13 years or older, and around 1,000 choirs entered the competition. 60 choirs were then invited to audition in front of the three judges in May at
Cadogan Hall inLondon , where the choirs required a 'yes' from two of the judges to proceed to the callbacks. The callbacks saw 27 choirs perform again in front of the judges, as well as other choirs and a studio audience atBBC Television Centre . 15 choirs were then chosen to perform in three rounds of studio heats, with two from each heat proceeding to the live shows. The final six choirs then sang for viewer votes over four weeks, with the choirs being eliminated one-by-one to find the last choir standing.cite news | title = About the show | publisher =BBC | date =2008 | url = http://www.bbc.co.uk/lastchoirstanding/about/about.shtml | accessdate = 2008-06-03 ] [cite web | url = http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2007/11_november/12/choirs.shtml | title = Choirs battle it out to be crowned nation's best in BBC One's new Saturday night extravaganza | publisher =BBC Press Office | date =2007-11-12 | accessdate = 2008-08-31] cite web | last = Henwood | first = Jo | title = We’re still standing | publisher = "Chester Chronicle " | date =2008-05-16 | url = http://www.chesterchronicle.co.uk/chester-news/local-chester-news/2008/05/16/we-re-still-standing-59067-20917067/ | accessdate =2008-06-03 ]The format is very similar to Welsh show "
