Stakliškės is a village in Lithuania, located east of Prienai, in Prienai district of Kaunas County on the Prienai-Trakai road. Stakliškės is a center of Stakliškės elderate.

History

The place is known since end of 14th century (1375 mentioned in Teutonic Knights Chronicles as Staghelisken, 1385 as Stakelisken). Since 1513 it was a town, and 1586 firt church was built.

After reforms of the Great Sejm, on January 16, 1792 monarch Stanisław August Poniatowski granted the town Magdeburg Rights. At the time city was awarded Coat of Arms.

Current coat of arms was granted by Presidential decree on December 18, 1997.
