Chauntra is a village situated at an altitude of 4,250 feet (1,300 m) above sea level in District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. The settlement is along the National Highway 20 connecting Mandi with Pathankot. The village also lies enroute to the famous paragliding spot of Bir.

Close to Chauntara, on a bye road from the National Highway, a Tibetan settlement and a Tibetan University have recently come up, making it a small tourist attraction for Western tourists.
