(1980)"Greatest Hits" is a compilation album by Dutch
girl group Luv' byPhilips Records /Phonogram Records . It was rush-released in 1979 a few weeks after the formation had left Philips to sign a record deal with the labels CNR/Carrere Records. It features songs from the two first studio albumsWith Luv' andLots Of Luv' : hit singles scored in the charts between 1977 and 1979(My Man, U.O.Me,You're the Greatest Lover , Trojan Horse, Casanova, Eeny Meeny Miny Moe) and album tracks. The Philips/Phonogram years were the group's most successful ones in terms of chart performance.Album history
Soon after
Luv' s transfer to CNR/Carrere Records,Philips Records /Phonogram Records , the group's first labels, decided to counterattack by releasing a compilation. Philips held the copyright on the albumsWith Luv' andLots Of Luv' and the singles off of them.Luv' reached its peak with these recordings. In 1979, the Dutch girl trio had become popular in a short time (two years only after its debut) inBenelux , German-speaking countries,Denmark ,Poland andSouth Africa . Hit singles likeYou're the Greatest Lover and Trojan Horse were million sellers. The female group was Holland's best export act and thus received the Conamus Export Prize [ [http://www.bumacultuur.nl/nl/page/activiteiten/prijzen] - List of the Conamus Export Prize winners; Conamus (currently: Buma Cultuur) is an organisation which promotes Dutch music artists abroad. Every year, since1972 , this foundation has presented an Export Prize to reward the best selling Export acts from theNetherlands . ] . To promote the "Greatest Hits" album, Philips/Phonogram releasedWho Do You Wanna Be (originally taken fromLuv' first LP), as a single.Track listing
