January 1 ,2006 - the towns of Tano, Sadowara from Miyazaki District, and the town of Takaoka from Higashimorokata District merged into the city of Miyazaki.*On
January 1 ,2006 - the towns of Takajo, Takazaki, Yamada and Yamanokuchi from Kitamorokata District merged with the old city of Miyakonojo to form the new city of Miyakonojo. ※New municipal organization*On
January 1 ,2006 - the villages of Nango, Saigo and Kitago from Higashiusuki District merged to form the town of Misato.*On
February 20 ,2006 - the towns of Kitaura and Kitakata from Higashiusuki District merged into the city of Nobeoka.*On

*A planned merger of municipalities will be implemented on

*A planned merger will be implemented onMarch 23 ,2010 . Kiyotake, Miyazaki District will merge into the City of Miyazaki. Miyazaki District will cease to exist.
