Biography

He graduated with a B.A. from Dartmouth College in 1993. After college, Gordon lived and worked extensively in Asia and Europe, where he was steeped in not only production and design but also languages and culture. Speaking both Japanese and Chinese he began to collect and study Asian art, finding inspiration in the contrasting bold and subtle sensibilities of these influences.

Armed with just $10,000 he'd saved and a business plan he'd been refining for two years, Gordon launched his first footwear collection in 1998 and immediately debuted at Nordstrom. He is a pre-eminent American footwear designer, featured in Footwear News' "The Top 30 Ones to Watch" issue. In 2007, he began to expand his product range beyond footwear and currently markets footwear, accessories and outerwear collections at major upscale retailers including Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom and Bloomingdales and in specialty boutiques throughout the U.S.
