List of heirs to the Russian throne

This is a list of the individuals who were, at any given time, considered the next in line to inherit the throne of Russia or Grand Prince of Moscow. Those who actually succeeded (at any future time) are shown in bold. Stillborn children and infants surviving less than a month are not included.

1281 to 1552

1722 to 1918

Since Peter I's Decree of the succession to the throne (16.2.1722) to Paul I's one (15.5.1797) there wasn't in the Russian Empire order of the succession, and Tsar had a possibility to appoint any of Reigning family members to his successor. All crown heir of this period are appointed by emperor.
