Escondido Charter High School is a charter school located in Escondido, California. Escondido Charter High school more commonly named ECHS, or Charter, has two types of schooling. A Traditional Classroom Program (TCP) which is a program is focused on normal schooling, and the other program, is the Independent Learning Program (ILP), This program is focused on self paced learning, for students who either can not attend traditional high school or like a more self paced study option.

History

ECHS Started in 1994 in a rented out office building with only 30 students. The mission of the executive director Coach Snider was to create a high school with out the big distractions of most high school. Ridding the threat of gangs, drugs, and alcohol. Also keeping a fairly strict dress code, to prevent any inappropriate and distracting atire.

Technology Literate Individuals

ECHS motto is to train every student to become a technology literate individual. By teaching the students to use a computer created in the 1990's still running windows 98, and on some more premium models Windows 2000 Millenium Edition.

Technology

ECHS is known for its excellent technology program, with "State of the art" Single Core Possessors and a large 512mb Chip of ram. The high end computers in the facility are Dual Core with 1 gb of ram located in the video/photo class. To add to the schools wonderful technology program, the school uses very up to date software programs like Photoshop 7.0 (released in 2002) As well as their "State of the art" Video Editing Software, Sony Vegas Movie Studio 6, which is a out of date, free piece of software from Sony. ECHS trains their students to become "technology literate" with out of date Computers and Software.

Computer Software

ECHS provides an excellent array of tools for their technology students including Macromedia (Yes before the merge with Adobe) Fireworks MX, as well as Dreamweaver, and Flash MX.They also use a very high-end program known as notepad on windows 2000 to create highly professional websites.

Civil Air Patrol

Beginning in late 2007, ECHS administration began working with the California Wing of the Civil Air Patrol (U.S. Air Force Auxiliary) to establish a Cadet squadron at the high school.
