Artemis (television series)

In 2008, Lucas INC. began a TV series called "Artemis", about three unlikely friends: James, a fighter; Maxx, a rebel; and Madeline, a popular girl, who discover they are part of the "Artemis Clan" a group of descendents of Artemis, the goddess of wildlife, that have the rare powers of shapeshifting. The kids find themselves battling Kronos and his band of evil creatures, including the Gorgons, Bluebeard, the Lernaean Hydra, and the Syren Sisters.

Background

James is the new kid at Valore Middle School, and is revealed as a sort-of vegetarian, rock and roll loving genius. He meets Maxx, a rebel-sort of kid, who shows him around the school. James sees Madeline and her clique, and says "Hi" to her, at which she looks at him and sort-of falls in love with him. Maxx introduces the two and drags James away leaving a wide-eyed Madeline staring down the hall at him until the school bell. James goes to algebra class with Maxx where he finishes a pop quiz in ½ a minute, which leads Maxx to ask James to tutor him. At art class, James successfully paints a version of Botticelli's The Birth of Aphrodite. Maxx later asks him what the painting was, and James tells him the whole concept of Aphrodite in Greek Mythology. That night, as James is helping Maxx with his fractions, Madeline comes in and starts trying to flirt with James, but fails. James and Maxx become good friends, and one night as they explore James' attic, find a book in the middle of the floor, entitled "Artemis Clan", which Maxx misreads as "Airteemis Clam". James opens it and reads the writing on the first page: "Shapus Shiftuss, Artemis clannus, defeattus Kronos". That night as Maxx, James and Madeline are asleep, they awake suddenly to a pain inside their stomachs, leading to weird curcumstances. James' nose grows out and scales grow out of his skin. Maxx's hands become claws and a black tail sprouts from his lower back. Madeline grows a beak and her fingers turn into fiery red feathers. At morning the odd changes have changed themselves: Grey flaps grow from James underarms and his hair torns brownish grey, Madeline grows gills and fangs, and Maxx is only able to howl and the tail has grown shorter and all the fur on it and the paws has turned brownish black. It is a Saturday, so James runs to Maxx's house to discover his and Madeline's changes too. Maxx and James run to the Attic, suspecting something had happened because of the book. They read on to find another inscription: The Middle of the Park Trail. They decide to go their, where they are suddenly transported to Greece. They find themselves on the peak of Mount Olympus, and turn around to see a garden with six statues: a fruit bat, a spitting cobra, a grey wolf, a puma, a piranha, and a Phoenix. A woman dressed in a short robe appears before them, and asks what they are doing there. They tell her about the weird changes and the portal, and she takes them into a palace. She gives them cups of an elixir. Maxx drinks his and the changes leave him. James drinks his and the same happens. The Being (Artemis) tells them they are part of the clan of Artemis and that they are now able to control their shapeshifting powers. She tells them that each person in the Clan can become one of two animals whenever they want... or whenever they have to defeat Kronos, who has escaped his prison in Tartaras. James can become a spitting cobra or a fruit bat. Maxx can become a puma or a grey wolf. Madeline can become a phoenix or a piranha. James and Maxx return to their house with some of the elixir, which Madeline drinks. The kids pick their main creature, a creature which they will become more often than the other. James picks the cobra, and to show off his new skill, does an aerial dive to the floor, becoming the cobra as he does. Maxx picks the puma, and jumps to the floor on all floors, becoming one as he does so. Madeline picks the Phoenix, and jumps to the air, turning into a giant falcon with gold and red feathers and an orange mohawk. The kids go to Olympus at the beginning of every episode and receive news from Artemis about a creature from Kronos' team that has been terrorizing Greece.Meanwhile the kids form a band called "Children of Artemis" and the second song they sing, "Good and Broken", originally by Miley Cyrus, is the theme of the show.

Theme

At the beginning of every episode, they show the Theme. It begins with the show's symbol, an "A" made from the main animals the kids turn into, and continues to feature clips from the show. Throughout the theme it shows "Children of Artemis" singing "Good and Broken" in a studio, ending with all the kids becoming their main animal.
