May 27 ,1966 , is a musician best known for being thedrummer of the influential grunge bandAlice in Chains . His interest in music was developed early by his grandfather, who was part of a band known as "The Cross Cats", which Kinney was made a member of when he was nine years old. He grew up inRenton, Washington , where he attendedLiberty Senior High School in theIssaquah School District Sean played drums for Alice in Chains for their albums "Facelift", "Dirt", and "Alice in Chains" as well as their two EPs "Sap" and "
Jar of Flies ".He sang chorus vocals through a megaphone on the hidden song from "Sap" titled "Love Song".
He also played drums for his Alice in Chains bandmate
Jerry Cantrell 's solo album, "Boggy Depot ".During the fall of
Grunge popularity during the mid-nineties, he was also a member of aWillie Nelson tribute band that also includedJohnny Cash ,Kim Thayil ofSoundgarden , andKrist Novoselic from Nirvana.In 2005 Kinney reunited with the surviving Alice in Chains members, performing at a
benefit concert for theTsunami Disaster . Alice in Chains is currently touring, including a 12 city acoustic series, and has said they plan to release a new album in 2008.
