Apart from the main village of Čepovan, it extends to include a number of smaller dispersed settlements in the valley known as Čepovanski Dol.[2]
The Parish Church in the settlement is dedicated to John the Baptist and belongs to the Diocese of Koper. A small church further up the valley in Puštale, belonging to the parish, is dedicated to The Sacred Heart of Jesus.[3]
