Grgar ( _it. Gargaro) is a village in western Slovenia in the municipality of Nova Gorica. It has a population of 748. [ [http://www.stat.si/eng/index.asp Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia] ] It is located under the Sveta Gora mountain, above the Soča valley and beneath the Banjšice Plateau.

It is the birthplace of the Slovene poet Matej Bor.
