The San Diego Chargers are a professional American football team based in San Diego, California. They are members of the Western Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). There have been 14 coaches in San Diego Chargers franchise history, including Sid Gillman, who coached the Los Angeles Chargers' first and only season in 1960 before the team's move to San Diego, California in 1961. Gilman is also the only Hall of Fame coach from the Chargers franchise. Marty Schottenheimer, the head coach before Turner, led the team into the playoffs in 2004 and 2006, but they were unsuccessful both times.
