It was located 5 miles (8.0 km) south-southwest of Browns Valley,[2] at an elevation of 108 feet (33 m). It still appeared on maps as of 1911.
A post office operated at Marigold from 1911 to 1929.[2] The name is from Marysville Gold Mining Company.[2] Gold dredging was practiced at Marigold in the early 20th century.[2]
