Masab Tank, is a distorted version of Maa-Sahaba Tank. Maa-Sahaba was a title endowed on Hayat Bakshi Begum, wife of Qutub Shahi VI. The ‘Talab’ or tank was built by Khanum Agha, Qutub Shah V’s mother, but it become famous after his wife as ‘Talab-e-Maa-Sahaba’. The upgraded ‘Maa Sahaba Talab’ got anglicized to Masab Tank.

The Modern Masab Tank is a major suburb in Hyderabad, India. The area lies at the junction of Road#1, Banjara Hills and the road connecting Humayun Nagar & Lakdi Ka Pul.

JNTU College of Fine Arts, JNTU, is located here.The prestigious Income tax towers housing the top brass of Income tax department is located here. It is one of the best Govt offices in India. It is a centrally airconditioned ten storey building with colourful water fountains inside and can match the best of corporate offices in India.The office houses Chief Commissioners of Income tax Shri A.K.Basu & S.C.Jaini and several important IRS officers including Dr.B.V.Prasad Reddy,G.Aparna Rao,A.Bhaskar Reddy,H.Srinivasulu, A.Patra etc.
