Sonnet L'Abbé is a Canadian poet. L'Abbé writes about national identity, social exclusion, race, environmental crisis, the feminine, language acts, the body, psychology, aesthetics and art.
Born in
Toronto, Ontario L'Abbé received a BFA in film and video fromYork University , and completed a Master's degree in English literature from theUniversity of Guelph . She has been a script reader and has taught English at universities inSouth Korea and taught Creative Writing at theUniversity of Toronto . She is also a regular reviewer for "The Globe and Mail " and "Canadian Literature", and an occasional contributor toCBC Radio One . She is currently studying at theUniversity of British Columbia .Her work has appeared in a number of literary journals and several anthologies including "Open Field: 30 Contemporary Canadian Poets" and "Red Silk: An Anthology of South Asian Canadian Women Poets".
