The station was added to the line in
1938 , well after the line from Belmore to Bankstown opened in 1909cite web|work=Nswrail.net| title=Bankstown Line|url=http://www.nswrail.net/lines/show.php?name=NSW:bankstown| accessdate=24 January| accessyear=2007] , to interchange with the strategic King Georges Road. While adjacent stations have island platforms, this station was built with side platforms and the architecture of the station buildings is significantly different.Platforms/Service
The station is served by four trains per hour for most of the time, with additional trains at weekday peak hours, and a half hourly service late in the evenings and on weekends.
