Rick Orman

Richard "Rick" D. Orman is a former provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1986 until 1993.

Political career

Orman was first elected to the Alberta Legislature in the 1986 Alberta general election. He won the new electoral district of Calgary Montrose for the Progressive Conservatives. The race in 1986 saw a field of four candidates, Orman would win a majority of the popular vote. A strong second place challenge came from New Democrat candidate Frank Gereau, but he still trailed Orman by over 2000 votes.cite web|url=http://www.abheritage.ca/abpolitics/database/maps_choice.asp?Year=1986&Constit=Calgary-Montrose|title=Calgary Montrose results 1986|publisher=Alberta Heritage Foundation|accessdate=2008-04-05] Orman was re-elected to a second term in the 1989 Alberta general election. He would slightly increase in popular vote finishing well ahead of Gereau in the three way race. Gereau ran for his second time also improved his showing but still finished well behind Orman.
