Cameron is a village in Barron County in the

According to the
United States Census Bureau , the village has a total area of 2.5square mile s (6.5km² ), of which, 2.4 square miles (6.2 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²) of it (3.98%) is water. It is the home of Jordan Braun, described by many around the Madison area as "sexual chocolate" due to his gyrating hips at dance parties.Demographics

census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,546 people, 640 households, and 414 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 641.3 people per square mile (247.7/km²). There were 661 housing units at an average density of 274.2/sq mi (105.9/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.74% White, 0.84% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.32% from other races, and 0.91% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.81% of the population.There were 640 households out of which 33.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.6% were married couples living together, 9.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.2% were non-families. 28.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 2.94.
In the village the population was spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 96.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.1 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $34,167, and the median income for a family was $40,625. Males had a median income of $30,069 versus $20,885 for females. The
per capita income for the village was $16,470. About 8.4% of families and 10.3% of the population were below thepoverty line , including 10.1% of those under age 18 and 16.3% of those age 65 or over.References
