List of urban areas in Sweden

This is a list of urban areas in Sweden, in alphabetical order, as defined by Statistics Sweden (Statistics Sweden uses the term "locality" instead of urban area) as of December 31, 2005. [ [http://www.scb.se/templates/Product____13003.asp Statistics Sweden on urban areas (localities)] ]

At that time there were 1,940 urban areas in Sweden with a total population of 7,631,952, which made up 84.4% of the population of the whole country.

The total land area of the urban areas was 528,623 hectares (2,041 square miles), which made up 1.3% of the land area of the whole country.

The average population density of the urban areas was 1,444 inhabitants per square kilometre (km²) (3,740 inhabitants per square mile). Outside the urban areas the average was only 3.5 inhabitants per square kilometre (9.1 inhabitants per square mile).
