Afro-punk (sometimes spelled Afropunk) refers to
African American s and otherAfrican American people in thepunk subculture . Although Afro-punks make up a minority in theNorth America n punk scene, they represent a majority in predominantly African American regions of the world that have burgeoning punk communities, such as in parts of Brazil andAfrica . There are manypunk rock bands with black members, and several with lineups that are all black.Notable bands that can be linked to the Afro-punk community include:

More mainstream manifestations of Afro-punk include the song "She Watch Channel Zero?!" by Public Enemy, rapper Ice-T's heavy metal bandBody Count , the song "P.E. 2000" (based on Public Enemy's "Bring The Noise") by Puff Daddy.
