Gaerwen railway station was situated on the North Wales Coast Line, serving as the junction for the Anglesey Central Railway line to Amlwch. The station closed to passengers in 1966Fact|date=April 2008, but the adjoining freight yard remained open for coal and fertiliser traffic for some years afterward [cite web |url=http://www.2d53.co.uk/gaerwen/general.htm |title=Railways of North Wales 1975-1983: Gaerwen |accessdate=2008-04-02] before it also closed.
