Acute hormonal imbalance

Acute hormonal imbalance

Acute hormonal imbalance is a term attributed to women suffering from an excessive production of one hormone. It is a temporary condition and treatable, although one that can cause the sufferer great distress, particularly if undiagnosed.

Physical side effects can range from excessive bleeding or spotting, weight gain, chronic tiredness and a general feeling of unwellness, it is however the mental and emotional side effects that tend to cause the sufferer most stress.

An excess of estrogen, not balanced by an equal production of progesterone can appear to alter the personality of the patient. It is common for the patient to feel heightened emotion, such as love, and create false feeling of dependancy. Sufferers are likely to become very tearful, overly sensitive, irrational and argumentative. The most independent and rational of people can be seem needy and emotional. This condition is exaserbated by the consumption of alcohol as this reduces the mind's ability to rationalise further.

This is a temporary condition and very easily treated with the administration of one of many less common contraceptive pills. Symptoms tend to disappear almost instantly, although for some sufferers it can take up to 7 days. Weight will be lost rapidly and any feeling or sensitivity, weakness, or irrational feeling of love and/or anger will dissapate.

Sufferers are at an increased risk of infertility, ovarian and cervical cancer.
