Apjohn studied at
Trinity College, Dublin medicine and finished with his M.B. in 1822. About 1824 he was appointed lecturer for chemistry at a medical school in Dublin and in 1850 he became professor for chemistry at Trinity College, although he was professor for Geology at the University since 1841.
