Pegsdon Hills are situated south and east of the hamlet of Pegsdon in the parish of Shillington in the English county of Bedfordshire. They form the north-eastern end of the Chiltern Hills. The most prominent hill is Deacon Hill.

Most of the area is managed as a nature reserve by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Peterborough. The reserve does not include the top of Deacon Hill, but it does include Hoo Bit across the county boundary in Hertfordshire.[1]

Part of the area around Deacon Hill is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), as an example of chalk downland.[2]

Knocking Hoe

Knocking Hoe is a smaller hill which lies north of Hitchin Road. It is a National Nature Reserve supporting large populations of a number of rare plants.[3] It has also been notified as an SSSI, and extensive scientific studies of the plant communities have been undertaken.[4]
