United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 34.1square mile s (88.2km² ), of which, 34.0 square miles (88.2 km²) of it is land and 0.03% is water.Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,571 people, 641 households, and 455 families residing in the town. Thepopulation density was 46.1 people per square mile (17.8/km²). There were 892 housing units at an average density of 26.2/sq mi (10.1/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.14% White, 0.25% African American, 0.57% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.38% from other races, and 1.46% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.08% of the population.There were 641 households out of which 30.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.0% were married couples living together, 9.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.0% were non-families. 21.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.83.
In the town the population was spread out with 23.6% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 28.3% from 45 to 64, and 11.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 108.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.7 males.
