Vermont Route 5A is a state highway in northeastern Vermont, United States. It is an alternate route of U.S. Route 5 that passes along the east shore of Lake Willoughby. VT 5A begins at US 5 in West Burke and ends at US 5 and VT 105 in Derby Center.

VTrans' 2006 Route Log lists the official length of VT 5A to be 19.498 miles (31.379 km), with the last milepost reading at VT 105 in Charleston.[1] However, VT 5A is signed as continuing to Derby Center by way of an overlap with VT 105.

History

Prior to the U.S. Highway system, the route was designated as New England Interstate Route 2A (NE-2A), part of the New England Interstate Route system that existed between 1922 and 1927. VT 5A now runs over the entirety of NE-2A.
