Forum for Stable Currencies

Forum for Stable Currencies

Forum for Stable Currencies was created by Lord Sudeley and Sabine K McNeill at the House of Lords in 1998. It was the outcome of contacts with the [http://www.ccmj.org/ Christian Council for Monetary Justice] and organising the [http://www.interestfreemoney.org/ Campaign for Interest-Free Money] through weekly meetings at the Global Cafe near Piccadilly, one of the first internet cafes in London.

Sabine McNeill had started the first Local Exchange Trading System in London in 1989 and organised meetings mainly at the House of Lords, but also at the House of Commons under the auspices of Austin Mitchell MP. See the [http://www.monies.cc/ archive site] .

On behalf of the Forum, Austin Mitchell MP tabled seven of eight Early Day Motions relating to [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_credit 'public'] or [http://greencredit.org.uk 'green credit'] .

On Feb. 16, 2008, the Forum hosted Nobel Peace Prize winner [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Yunus 'Dr. Muhammad Yunus'] at St. James's Church, London Piccadilly.

The most recent political initiative is the on-line petition [http://www.gopetition.co.uk/petitions/stop-the-cash-crumble-to-equalize-the-credit-crunch.html Stop the "Cash Crumble" to Equalize the "Credit Crunch"] .
