Granger is located at coor dms|30|43|5|N|97|26|28|W|city (30.718081, -97.440996),GR|1 36 miles (58 km) northeast of Austin. Granger Lake is located just east of the city.

United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 0.7square mile s (1.7km² ), all of it land.Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,299 people, 502 households, and 323 families residing in the city. Thepopulation density was 1,951.6 people per square mile (748.6/km²). There were 565 housing units at an average density of 848.8/sq mi (325.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 81.37% White, 8.55% African American, 0.31% Native American, 0.31% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 8.47% from other races, and 0.92% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 25.40% of the population.There were 502 households out of which 35.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.4% were married couples living together, 11.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.5% were non-families. 33.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.20.
In the city the population was spread out with 27.0% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 20.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 89.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.9 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $32,542, and the median income for a family was $37,188. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $21,250 for females. The
per capita income for the city was $12,254. About 11.5% of families and 12.0% of the population were below thepoverty line , including 12.6% of those under age 18 and 21.3% of those age 65 or over.Education
