Major General Holger Nelson Toftoy (31 October 1902 – 19 April 1967) was a
United States Army officer linked to early rocketry such as the Redstone missile.Born in Marseilles,
Illinois , Toftoy studied atUniversity of Wisconsin-Madison as a ROTC cadet, but transferred to theUnited States Military Academy where he graduated from in 1926. He served in a variety of positions, including in Coast Artillery, Chief of ArmyOrdnance , and was part ofOperation Paperclip 's founding.In March 1958, Toftoy became Deputy Commanding General of the Army Ordnance Missile Command,
Redstone Arsenal . He remained at RSA until July 1958, when he was named the Commanding General ofAberdeen Proving Ground , Maryland (August 1958).
