Wendy Alane Wright (born September 6, 1966 in Buffalo, New York) is an American singer, author and actress; and daughter of author W.D. Wright (Crisis of the Black Intellectual, Racism Matters, Black Intellectuals, Black Cognition and a Black Aesthetic).

Career as a signer
Wright was lead singer of the Dutch pop group Def La Desh And The Fresh Witness from 1990 to 1994. They had two top 40 European Hits (Nederlandse Top 40). Her vocals also appear in numerous Verizon commercials, and she has sung back up for Johnny Lang, Billie Myers, Wayne Brady, Solomon Burke, Jeff Trachta, Philip Michael Thomas, Tony Scott and Candy Dulfer. Wright starred in the ABC television series Fat March in 2007.
In 2008 she performed at the Shriners Children Hospital Fundraiser "Rhythm On The Vine" with Herbie Hancock, Sheila E and Jim Brickman. In past years, Wright has performed at numerous charitable events including, "Night at the Macambo" a fundraiser for Orphanages in Mexico hosted by Racquel Welch and Edward James Olmos, Chapman Universities Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award for Gregory Hines, the Byzantine Investiture of Royalty ceremony and ball in Beverly Hills, as well as "A Night At The Cocoanut Grove" at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre.
Career as an author
Wright is also the author of the book Contrary Action; An Ordinary Girl’s Dialogue With God and has released three music CDs As I Am, Real Love and I Want Your Love. She recently appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show to talk about the "Power of Attraction" with authors Louise Hay, Martha Beck and life coach Cheryl Richardson.
