Wendy Bell O'Toole

Wendy Bell was born April 4, 1970. She grew up in Calabasas, CA, and graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri with a master's degree and also received a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO.

From 1993-1995, Wendy was a reporter for the nationally syndicated program American Journal.

From 1995-1998, Wendy was an anchor and feature reporter for the program Show Me St.Louis on KSDK-TV in St. Louis, MO.

Since 1998, Wendy has been at WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh, PA. She first started out as the Consumer Watch reporter from 1998-2000. She then started to co-anchor Action News At Noon with Scott Baker from 2000-2004. She then took on additional co-anchor duties on Action News This Morning with Kelly Frey from 2002-2006.

On June 12, 2006, Wendy became co-anchor of Action News at 5 p.m. with Michelle Wright and at 11 p.m. with Mike Clark.

In 2003, Wendy appeared in the Pennsylvania Miner's Story. This was a movie about the nine trapped miners in the Quecreek Mine in Somerset, PA. She played a TV news reporter. She was credited as Wendy Bell O'Toole.

Wendy has been married since 1998 to Dr. Joe O'Toole, an interventional cardiologist. They have five sons: Michael who was born in 2000, Jack who was born in 2001, Ryan who was born in 2005, and twins Christopher and Bobby born in 2008.

Wendy has won 6 Emmy Awards, a National Headliner Award and a National Edward R. Murrow Award for a story that tested the politeness of everyday Pittsburghers. She transformed her appearance and posed as an 80-year-old woman to see if people would come to the aid of an elderly lady in need.
