United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 12.4square mile s (32.1km² ), of which, 12.4 square miles (32.1 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.16%) is water.Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 39,018 people, 14,922 households, and 9,997 families residing in the city. Thepopulation density was 3,148.4 people per square mile (1,215.9/km²). There were 15,716 housing units at an average density of 1,268.2/sq mi (489.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 76.82% White, 2.79% African American, 0.73% Native American, 7.71% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 9.23% from other races, and 2.61% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 19.92% of the population.There were 14,922 households out of which 33.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.4% were married couples living together, 12.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.0% were non-families. 27.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.19.
In the city the population was spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 32.9% from 25 to 44, 19.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 100.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $38,818, and the median income for a family was $42,706. Males had a median income of $32,785 versus $26,013 for females. The

Haltom City was incorporated on July 5, 1949, and gradually expanded, annexing Oak Knoll, Garden of Eden, Meadow Oaks, East Ridge and, in 1955, unincorporated portions of Birdville. Haltom City elected Home Rule Charter with a city manager, mayor and council form of government on October 10, 1955

Most of Haltom City is served by the
Birdville Independent School District (BISD), however some portions are served by theFort Worth Independent School District and Keller Independent School District as well. Haltom City has seven BISD elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school and an alternative school within its boundaries.References
