Spring R. Rice was a
British Army general who served on the staff of theBritish Expeditionary Force during theFirst World War .He saw service in the
South African War , commanding 23rd Field Company RE. It was deployed toLadysmith , and during theSiege of Ladysmith , he acted as the commanding officer of the Royal Engineers.
