Amin Village

The village of Amin is located at a distance of about 8 kilometers from the historical city of Kurukshetra. The village used to be considered the "Tika" or head village of the Ror community till the census of 1891 by the British officials [Pages 834-835, A Glossary of the Tribes and Castes of the Punjab and North-West Frontier Provinces, By H A Rose, Sir Denzil Ibbetson, Sir Edward Douglas Maclagan, Published 1990, Asian Educational Services, ISBN 8120605055] .

Interesting facts

There is a very old fort in the village of Amin. This fort is situated at a higher level than the rest of the village. People say that this fort belonged to Abhimanyu, the son of Arjun in the Mahabharat times. Folklore also says that the Pandavas arrayed their forces before the last battle in the war of Mahabharat at Amin. The men of Amin from the Ror community belong to Chauhan gotra and their average height is more than six feet. There is a local saying that the Indian Volleyball team always has at least one Ror from this village. A perfect example of this village's contribution to Indian Volleyball is Arjuna Award winner Dalel Singh, who has also had the distinction of captaining the national team.

Modern amenities

The Haryana Government has had a Veterinary hospital to cater to the needs of the village husbandsmen for quite some time. There is a very nice school that provides education till senior secondary level. The village also has a nice pond that is used for pisciculture.
