Frank Valeriote (born 1954) is the nominated Liberal Party of Canada candidate [http://frankvaleriote.liberal.ca/p1246_e.aspx Frank Valeriote campaign website] , accessed March 19, 2008] to succeed retiring Liberal Member of Parliament Brenda Chamberlain in the electoral district of Guelph, Ontario. Chamberlain has announced her resignation from the Canadian House of Commons effective April 7 2008 and a by-election will be held to fill the vacancy if a federal election is not held first.

Valeriote is the son of Italian immigrants and was raised in Guelph, Ontario. He earned an undergraduate degree in history and economics from the University of Western Ontario before earning his law degree from the University of Ottawa. He was called to the bar in 1981 [http://www.smithvaleriote.com/team/fvaleriote.html SmithValeriote LLP] , accessed March 19, 2008] returned to Guelph to establish a law practice.

He served on the local Catholic School Board for 18 years including several as chair.

He lives in Guelph with his wife and their two children.
