Roane County Courthouse

Roane County Courthouse

The old Roane County Courthouse building in Kingston, Tennessee, built in the 1850s, is one of six remaining antebellum county courthouses in the state of Tennessee. It was used as a courthouse until 1974, when Roane County's court and government offices were relocated to a new courthouse building on an adjacent site. The old courthouse currently houses a museum. Architect Augustus Fisher gave the building its Greek Revival design. In 1971, the courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
