Datuk Anifah Aman (born
1954 ) is a formerMalaysia n Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, and Member of Parliament. He is a member of theUnited Malays National Organization (UMNO), which is part of the rulingBarisan Nasional coalition. After winning reelection in the 2008 general election, Prime MinisterAbdullah Ahmad Badawi appointed him as the new Deputy Transport Minister. However, Anifah refused, saying he felt it was "time to make way" for someone else. Reports indicated this was the first time anyone had refused an appointment as Deputy Minister after the appointment had already been made public.
