Naresh Dadhich (born September 1, 1944) is a theoretical physicist and Emeritus Professor at Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA). He was also the director of IUCAA until August 31, 2009.
Naresh Dadhich was born in Sarsali in Churu District, Rajasthan. He studied at Pilani, Hissar, Vallabh-Vidyanagar and finally at Pune where he did his PhD in general relativity under the guidance of the highly respected mathematician and physicist, Vishnu Vasudev Narlikar (father of Jayant Narlikar, the renowned Indian physicist). He was then hired by the Faculty of Mathematics at the Pune University until February 10, 1988, when he was invited to be the project coordinator for the creation of the IUCAA.
He became the director of IUCAA in July 2003.[1] He is currently a visiting faculty of the University of KwaZulu-Natal at Durban, South Africa[2] and also works with gravity research groups in Portsmouth, UK and Bilbao, Spain.
Naresh Dadhich's specialties include classical and quantum gravity and relativistic astrophysics. Along with his colleagues he has published over 100 scientific papers. He has supervised several PhD students.
