Penistone Community Radio is an AM community radio station based in Penistone, South Yorkshire England and will be broadcasting on an AM frequency [ [http://www.penistonecommunityradio.co.uk Our official website] ] and online at the same address. The station is operated by Penistone Community Radio Ltd, and gained its five-year community broadcast licence in 2007.
Content on the station includes a variety of genres, with more specialist programming on evenings and at weekends, with dance, brass, alternative and soul being some of the genres covered. At times when there is no presenter, an automated system is used playing mostly popular music from the 1950's onwards. The radio station playout system is Myriad.
The station will work with community groups and local organisations to promote activites and oppertunities in the Penistone area. Local people will be encouraged to volunteer on the station and will receive training.
