census GR|2 of 2000, there were 2,890 people, 945 households, and 855 families residing in the city. Thepopulation density was 314.3 people per square mile (121.3/km²). There were 962 housing units at an average density of 104.6/sq mi (40.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.44% White, 0.42% African American, 0.52% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.00% from other races, and 1.31% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.56% of the population.There were 945 households out of which 44.9% had children under the living with them, 83.2% were married couples living together, 4.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 9.5% were non-families. 7.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 1.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.06 and the average family size was 3.22.
In the city the population was spread out with 30.2% under the , 5.3% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 29.1% from 45 to 64, and 6.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years.
