Flame Beaufort entered the world of Santa Barbara in the middle of 1990 as a reporter named Debra London, a person who's presence will make a huge impact on the future of the show's main heroine Kelly Capwell. "Debra" was sent to investigate Robert Barr and try to get as much info on him as possible, and it was later revealed that she had to do it because she formed a plan with Robert's twin brother Quinn for Quinn to kidnap Robert and then assume his identity. Fearing that Robert might reveal her true intentions, Flame locked him up and allowed Quinn to take his place, after Quinn learned how to act like his brother.
After realizing that there is still a threat for her, Debra sent Robert to a camp far away from Santa Barbara. What Flame had not thought about was the possibility of Quinn falling in love with Kelly [ [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWHOblkTgps Kelly and Quinn] ] , which is exactly what happened. Flame, full of anger, threw Kelly down the stairs and later tried to convince her that "Robert" rekindled his love with Eden. Quinn, realizing just how much dangerous Flame is, managed to lock her up, but Flame escaped. Robert managed to find a way to return to Santa Barbara, and Flame confronted him. At the same time, both Flame and Eden shot Robert, Flame with full intentions, and Eden in self defense.
Eden ended up in a car accident and later managed to remember that she didn't shoot Robert, but that it was actually Flame. Everyone believed that the person murdered was Quinn. Flame was arrested for "Quinn's" murder, but with support from Father Michael Donnelly [ [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9t3XeIeyRjc Flame and Michael] ] , Cruz decided to use Flame as a good police resource. Flame was about to start a new life, even accepting a job at Warren's newspaper office, but her office came to disturb her once again, and she then decided to leave town.
