- Ballyfin '93
Ballyfin '93 was an Irish
Scout ing Jamboree which took place between the 27th July and the 5th August. It was hosted byScouting Ireland (CSI) , and co-organised by theFederation of Irish Scouts Associations (FISA). It was the third of four such jamborees rotated among the members of FISA.Portumna '85 , andGosford '89 preceded it, while it was followed byLough Dan '97 . The jamboree took place in the grounds of Ballyfin College. The jamboree song "The Spirit lives on" was a version of that used for the15th World Scout Jamboree .ubcamps
The campsite was split into seven subcamps for troops, packs and staff, each named after an Irish Lake/Lough:
*Cara,
*Conn,
*Corrib,
*Derg,
*Eske,
*Ouler,
*Strangford,
*Lein (Staff). It was a wonderful occasion and brought much life to the rural Ballyfin area. I would like to thank the ladies for the loan of the hall and thank you to the committee we really had a ball.UNICEF Day
One of the highlights of the jamboree was a charity fundraising day in aid of UNICEF. As it took place on visitors' day, troops and staff set up stalls to raise money by selling items of food, or with novelty competitions.
