Alfred Earle

Air Chief Marshal Sir Alfred Earle GBE, CB, RAF (11 December 1907 – 27 March 1990) was a senior officer in the Royal Air Force during World War II who later held very senior RAF and British Defence posts, including Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff. cite web |url=http://www.rafweb.org/Biographies/Earle.htm |title= Air of Authority - A History of RAF Organisation - Air Chief Marshal Sir Alfred Earle |accessdate=2008-06-15]

Later life

After he retired from the RAF in 1966 he took up the position of Director-General of Intelligence on the Defence Staff which he held until 1968. From 1974 to 1976 he was the Chairman of Waveney District Council.
